About
background and education
I’m an Antwerpen-based visual artist, who graduated from the Academy of Art and Design in Saint Petersburg, Russia 2012. In 2022 I graduated from the Karel de Grote Hogeschool Campus Sint Lucas Antwerp with a Master of Arts in Visual Arts. Recently I took part in the Antwerp Queer Art Festival as an art teacher and an artist as well, also I was engaged in the Playing Peripheral art exhibition at Art Telex gallery, and To Be Antwerpen Art Festival. Currently, I’m a resident of Toi-toi Drome studio, working on a series of paintings.
Process of work
Life drawing and experimentation are a big part of my art practice. Through sketches, I create my library of images and refer to them while working on my current art project.
Sketching for me is a way of meeting places and people. Like poetry learned by heart, someone’s face becomes more intimate and familiar after sketching. There is always something in between. I observe, get closer, and at the same time, I project myself on the subject of my sketch. The in-between space becomes alive third character that is reflected in the sketch itself.
